Waze
Waze is an Israeli navigation app owned by Google, making it subject to the same boycott due to Google's complicity in Israeli genocide as documented in the 2025 UN Human Rights Council report. Waze's routing algorithms label Palestinian areas as "dangerous" by default while directing users freely into illegal settlements.
Waze was founded in Israel in 2008 by Ehud Shabtai, Amir Shinar, and Uri Levine, who Unit 8200 veterans. Google acquired Waze in June 2013 for $1.3 billion. Waze continues to operate from Israel as a subsidiary of Google
Discriminatory Routing
Waze includes a default setting that warns users in Israel before entering Palestinian areas, labeling them as "dangerous areas" and requiring confirmation to proceed. The app does not provide equivalent warnings when users enter illegal Israeli settlements, despite documented settler violence against Palestinians.
