UN Database of Businesses in Occupied Palestinian Territory
The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) maintains a database of business enterprises involved in activities connected to Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. This database emerged from Resolution 31/36 of the UN Human Rights Council in March 2016, which mandated an independent international fact-finding mission to investigate the implications of Israeli settlements on Palestinian civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.
The database was first published in February 2020 after years of research and documentation, with the most recent update released in June 2023. The investigation identified business entities that contribute to the settlement enterprise through various activities including construction, security services, telecommunications, banking, tourism, and transportation.
The OHCHR database serves as an official UN documentation of corporate complicity in violations of international law. The settlements themselves have been consistently declared illegal under international law, including by the International Court of Justice. This makes the database a critical tool for accountability campaigns, providing authoritative documentation of which companies are directly implicated in the settlement economy.
