Microsoft Exchange Online is Microsoft’s cloud-hosted email and calendar server delivered through Microsoft 365.

Military Use

Exchange Online is built with the U.S. military in mind and has the accreditation to be used for the military's "sensitive" operations and information exchange. Exchange Online is one of the main products of the Defense Enterprise Office Solution (DEOS) which is the U.S. military's Department of Defense (DoD) initiative to modernize their IT infrastructure by leveraging commercial cloud services.

Licences are billed per user under DEOS, turning cloud email and U.S. military communications into a profit source for Microsoft.
